Zensho has built a group-wide food safety inspection and management system to deliver safe, high-quality foods to our customers. In addition to this in-house approach, we are involved in establishing global standards for food safety through collaborative research efforts with universities and other specialized research institutes.
Food Safety Pursing Division
With more attention being focused on issues such as residual agrichemicals and foreign contaminants, the tendency is to think that food produced domestically is safe whereas imported food is not. At Zensho, we believe that the food safety and sanitary controls based on full traceability are key to dependably delivering safe, delicious foods to our customers. Our Food Safety Pursuing Division is responsible for the various processes required to ensure food safety. The departments that inspect the foodstuffs used by the Zensho Group using expert staff and industry-leading analysis equipment carry out analysis using strict in-house safety standards that surpass government-established levels.
We seek to establish global standards for food safety by continuing to accumulate data through everyday efforts.
Collaboration with External Research Organizations
In addition to our in-house research, Zensho has forged partnerships with universities and research organization in an effort to create global food safety standards. In 2006, we began helping subsidize the Alliance for Global Sustainability (AGS), an international academic consortium for the broad study of sustainability-related issues that includes the Univer-sity of Tokyo, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and Chalmers Univer-sity of Technology, and conducted a joint study with AGS of Chinese agricultural land. In 2008, we began supporting the University of Tokyo’s Research Center for Food Safety. We plan on using the latest research results to create global food safety standards.
