Japanese Cultural Studies

Building Organization with Work & Life Satisfaction

As a global corporation based in Japan, Zensho is working to promote a society in which many cultures are able to coexist. In order to first focus on deepening understanding of our own national culture, we developed facilities at the Shinagawa Head Office and in Kyoto City where employees and visitors alike can learn more intimately about Japanese culture.

Japan Cultural Training Center

First organized in July 2021, the Japan Cultural Training Center maintains an official training institute in the ancient Japanese capital of Kyoto. At this institute, visitors have the opportunity to study under teachers who have mastered Japanese arts such as flower arrangement and calligraphy, and experience these traditional practices firsthand.

Studying calligraphy by focusing on each character and moving the brush across the page with intention helps strengthen the mind.

In the study of flower arrangement and the expression of beauty in relativity, negative space, and flowers, unique artworks are created from personal thoughts.

While learning about the potential offered by bamboo, the foundation of many aspects of Japanese culture, participants craft their own bamboo chopsticks under the guidance of a traditional bamboo artisan.

Spirits are unified through Zen meditation on visits to a Buddhist temple.

A garden provides the experience of being surrounded by nature and enveloped by the colors of the passing seasons.

Fastidious care is also taken in decorating the Japanese-style tokonoma alcove located inside the center.

Zensoan

“Zensoan” is a tearoom assembled within our office that preserves a strict sense of commitment to traditional materials and methods. Tea ceremony courses are available to any employees interested in the practice.
Participants are able to study the spirit of hospitality and Zen through a series of lessons, including courses for learning about the history of tea and for practicing the art of tea preparation.
