Towards the realization of our philosophy,
Accelerating global growth

Reason why Zensho aims to be the world's top food company

 Zensho has been expanding its business to realize its corporate philosophy of “to take responsibility for the stability and development of human society, eradicating hunger and poverty from the world through food.” In approximately 40 years since its founding in 1982, it has grown to a scale of 1,264 billion yen in sales (as of March 2026) and 14,947 stores worldwide (as of the end of March 2026), but this is still not enough. To realize this grand corporate philosophy, it is necessary to expand the scale of its business. As a guideline for this, it has set the goal of becoming "the the World’s Top Food Company" but it recognizes that its growth speed is nowhere near enough to achieve this. In order to accelerate growth, it will focus on creating a system that will allow it to open multiple types of brands simultaneously around the world.

Global expansion leveraging the strengths of our brands

 Our founding brand, "Sukiya," has surpassed the milestone of 2,000 stores in Japan. We will continue to refine the quality of our stores and develop stores that are supported by local customers, while also aiming for further store openings. Overseas, we will expand our stores while promoting brand penetration in each region, such as East Asia and Southeast Asia.

 "Hama-Sushi" is solidifying its position as one of Japan's top sushi brands, and is looking to expand into a wide range of countries and regions overseas. In addition to East Asia, where it is already expanding, it will also be expanding into various Southeast Asian countries.

 In recent years, our overseas take-out sushi business has seen a complementary relationship between two sales channels: "kiosks" located within supermarkets and "commissioneries" that supply factory-made sushi to retailers. We will leverage this unique position, which allows us to utilize multiple sales channels, to further accelerate our expansion in Europe and the United States.

Embracing change and providing unique value

 In addition to the continued surge in raw material prices over the past few years, we anticipate rising costs for non-food items such as energy, logistics, and construction due to the current situation in the Middle East. Even in this challenging external environment, we believe it is our mission to provide the unique value that is characteristic of Zensho and contribute to the lives of our customers.

 Zensho has established a "mass merchandising system (MMD)" in which it plans, designs, and manages everything from raw material procurement to manufacturing, processing, logistics, and sales. By fully utilizing this MMD network and management resources such as highly productive store operations that incorporate technological innovation, we will provide valuable products and services to our customers.

Overcoming differences and living together

 The world is experiencing increasing instability due to a series of divisions and conflicts. In this situation, Zensho strongly desires to promote "coexistence" among people through food. "Coexistence" means "overcoming differences and living together."

 At Zensho, which operates businesses all over the world, members from diverse backgrounds work together. We believe that each of them working towards the common goal of "creating the best stores in their respective regions and enriching the lives of our customers" is nothing less than the embodiment of "coexistence." Furthermore, our fair trade activities, which we have been engaged in for about 20 years, are also one of our pursuits of "coexistence" through our business. We will continue to build a system that connects producers in regions facing social challenges with consumers mainly living in developed countries, and develops together. Through these efforts, we hope to contribute to the stability and development of human society.
