In November 2022, Zensho held a "Parent-Child Food Education Workshop" at Takasu Elementary School in Kaizu City, Gifu Prefecture, in collaboration with a Sukiya food truck.
This workshop is a collaboration between rice producers in Kaizu City and the Zensho Group, which supplies that rice to its stores.
This initiative was planned in collaboration with the PTA of Takasu Elementary School, with the aim of "doing something for the children of the community."
*Rice from Kaizu City is served at our group stores in the Tokai region.
The workshop was held as part of a school observation program, and approximately 100 sixth-grade elementary school students and their parents participated on the day.
We explained Zensho and Sukiya 's food-related initiatives and offered samples of Gyudon and rice prepared in a food truck.
The children learned about Zensho Group's corporate philosophy and business activities, as well as the rice produced in Kaizu City.
I learned how the products are transported to the stores and served to customers.
Then, we heard an explanation about the Sukiya food truck, which plays an active role in disaster relief and other relief efforts.
Equipped with kitchen facilities and mobility, our food trucks "never stop providing food, no matter the emergency!"
It was created with this in mind, in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake.
After learning that a food truck could provide hot Gyudon anytime,
Now it's time for the much-anticipated tasting of Gyudon and rice.
To gain a deeper understanding of rice produced in Kaizu City, we compared two types of rice: ① "Hoshijirushi" grown in Kaizu City and ② "Hitomebore" from Iwate Prefecture, enjoying the differences in taste.
Students who participated in the workshop commented, "Gyudon made by the food truck was delicious," and "From now on, I want to be grateful to the people who made it for me, savor every bite, and eat it all."
The employee who led the workshop that day commented, "In the future, we would like to continue working with producers nationwide to carry out initiatives for the benefit of local communities, not just with rice, but with ingredients from various regions," and "Many of the children learned about food trucks for the first time. In the future, we would like to offer children opportunities to tour food trucks and experience cooking."
Zensho will continue its community-based activities and initiatives that contribute to the future of children.
