Contribution to Local Communities
Zensho takes responsibility in our role as food infrastructure to support local communities by constantly providing safe, delicious food, available at any time, at retail locations around the world. As for our specific initiatives on behalf of local communities, we have worked together with producers to discover what is really needed the most in those regions and give back a portion of the purchasing prices as social development funds to improve the lives of the people living in these communities by helping with building educational institutions, waterworks systems, and medical facilities, and offering support for female producers through fair trade since 2007. We also endeavor to contribute to local communities through providing disaster relief in Japan and overseas in addition to academic support.
Food infrastructure
The Zensho Group supports local communities by constantly providing safe, delicious food, 365 days a year, any time, any place, and at affordable prices at retail locations around the world.
Fair Trade
Through our commitment to purchasing products from producers in developing countries at fair prices, we are able to reliably offer high-quality products to customers and support the producers in helping to both enhance their standards of living and provide them with economic independence.
Domestic disaster relief
Our retail locations, plants, and logistics centers across the country serve as relief centers in times of disaster. When a disaster occurs, we distribute gyudon beef bowls and other fresh food to local people from our mobile food trucks and set up donation boxes in stores nationwide to donate relief funds to affected areas.
Overseas Disaster Relief
Based on our vision to “eradicate hunger and poverty from the world,” when disasters occur overseas, we engage in relief activities by directly visiting affected areas to distribute food and supplies needed by the local people in addition to donating funds to support relief efforts.
Academic Support & Industry-academia Collaboration
While expanding outside Japan, we believe that building positive relationships in each country is an important topic of focus. Through providing academic support, Zensho is working to foster human resources in each country and spread interest in and understanding of Japan.
Zensho Kagayaki Children’s Foundation
We conduct a scholarship program for children living in social welfare facilities so that they are free to choose a career path that suits their own abilities and natural skills and can actively devote themselves to learning without being prevented from continuing education or fulfilling active roles in society for financial reasons.
Work Experience for Children
We host work experiences for children as an accessible forum for raising their self-confidence and providing an opportunity for them to consider their future careers while helping them learn about the occupations of the people around them.
Exchange with Local Communities
As a member of our local communities, we are focused on deepening our relationships with each community by working together in classrooms to hold courses on nutrition for parents and children at elementary schools and planning new dishes with fisheries high schools, as well as participating in local sports events for each area.
Nursing Care Initiatives
Zensho operates residential and nursing care services for the elderly. We provide safe, delicious food and a comfortable living environment so that people in their advanced years can enjoy a pleasant life.
