From July to August 2024, Sukiya provided Gyudon at children's cafeterias.
As part of its community-based activities, Zensho is committed to providing meals at children's cafeterias. In July 2024, Sukiya provided Gyudon and other dishes at "Namamugi Children's Cafeteria" in Kanagawa Prefecture, and in August, at "Manbou Children's Cafeteria" in Setagaya Ward, Tokyo.
This was our second time providing support to "Namamugi Children's Cafeteria," and this time, we took nutritional balance into consideration and prepared pickles and miso soup in addition to Gyudon we provided last time. We provided 65 meals in total, including some for the staff.
The menu became quite luxurious, with baked potatoes with cheese (created by the volunteer staff of the children's cafeteria) and eclairs added to the mix.
Since many young children participated, Sukiya staff members assisted in carrying the food to the tables.
To coincide with the start of the meal, a quiz about Sukiya 's Gyudon was also held.
With a total of 45 people participating, it was a lively gathering.
One participant commented, "I heard that Sukiya was coming, so my child and I came together for the first time in a while."
At "Manbou Children's Cafeteria," the first place we provided support, we supplied 80 servings Gyudon and Pork Miso Soup from Sukiya as a lunch service during the summer holidays.
Gyudon are available in two sizes: regular and mini, and we also offer the mini size for small children.
The piping hot tonjiru (pork Pork Miso Soup) was brought to our table by a member of Sukiya.
Many children were stuffing their mouths with Gyudon, exclaiming, "Delicious!"
For dessert after the meal, we had ice cream provided by "Manbou Children's Cafeteria"!
Sukiya staff members also participated in the distribution.
Everyone who participated was smiling and seemed to have a full stomach.
Zensho will continue to implement community-based activities through food, targeting children's cafeterias throughout Japan.
